Em. Dodds et al., PLASMAPHERESIS TREATMENT OF CENTRAL RETINAL VEIN OCCLUSION IN A YOUNG-ADULT, American journal of ophthalmology, 119(4), 1995, pp. 519-521
PURPOSE/METHODS: A 16-year-old girl with mixed connective tissue disea
se had central retinal vein occlusion. The patient was treated with pl
asmapheresis. RESULTS/CONCLUSION: Resolution of clinical findings of c
entral retinal vein occlusion was documented by fluorescein angiograph
y and visual field tests within 15 days of treatment. Plasma pheresis
may be effective therapy-in carefully selected cases of central retina
l vein occlusion in young adults.
