Pj. Anderson et al., SKIN-CANCER PREVENTION - A LINK BETWEEN PRIMARY PREVENTION AND EARLY DETECTION, Australian journal of public health, 18(4), 1994, pp. 417-420
The aim of this paper was to determine if there is any link between pr
imary prevention and early detection for skin cancer. Results from a s
tudy of a large random sample of Gold Coast residents (N = 995) identi
fied an association (P < 0.01) between individual primary prevention a
nd early detection activities. People were also more likely to use bot
h prevention methods if they had personal experience with skin cancer
(P = 0.01) or if they were male (P = 0.05). Future primary prevention
and early detection skin cancer programs might be most effective if th
ey are combined.
