Abstract
All the available nightside electron data obtained during circular orb its at Mars from the Phobos-2 HARP instrument have been examined in de tail and are summarized in this paper. An electron flux component with energies exceeding that of the unperturbed solar wind was observed in side the magnetosheath, indicating the presence of acceleration mechan ism(s). The character of the electron fluxes measured in the magnetota il cannot be classified in any simple manner, however, there is a corr elation between the electron fluxes measured well inside this region a nd the unperturbed solar wind ram pressure.
