Abstract
A new phytoalexin was induced and isolated from papaya fruit slices tr eated with copper salts; its structure was established as 3',5'-dimeth oxy-4'-hydroxy-(2-hydroxy)ac This compound showed high antifungal acti vity against Collerotrichum gloesporioides, a pathogenic fungus of pap aya.
