La. Zhelanova et al., BEHAVIOR OF HYDROGEN IN HIGH-SPEED STEELS UPON TREATMENT IN A GLOW-DISCHARGE, Metal science and heat treatment, 36(9-10), 1994, pp. 452-455
Thermochemical treatment in a glow discharge in hydrogen-containing ga
seous media is used to harden high-speed tool steels. Such treatment i
s accompanied by saturation of the metal by hydrogen, which leads to t
he appearance of hydrogen embrittlement. Transfer of hydrogen from the
surface layers into the volume of the steel is accomplished by diffus
ion fluxes. Accordingly, the investigation of diffusion processes occu
rring under thermochemical treatment conditions in a glow discharge is
of both theoretical and practical interest.
