Knowledge of pulsating torques is important when assessing the vibrato
ry behavior of rotating electric machinery. This paper compares the pr
edictions of two independent methods for calculating such torques for
a specific induction motor. One method is based on classical machine f
ield calculation methods, and the other on finite element analysis.
