P. Gardin et al., LIQUID STEEL FLOW-CONTROL INSIDE CONTINUOUS-CASTING MOLD USING A STATIC MAGNETIC-FIELD, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 31(3), 1995, pp. 2088-2091
The improvement of steel cleanliness mainly depends on the control of
the liquid steel flows in the continuous casting mold. This text descr
ibes the influence on steel flows of an electromagnetic actuator which
generates a static magnetic field in the mold. This field leads to a
high confinement of the inclusions in the upper part of the caster and
tends to increase the heterogeneity of the inclusion distribution in
the widthwise direction of the slab.
