Abstract
Contactless bearings are one of the applications of high temperature s uperconductors. Different structures of permanent magnets and supercon ductors are modeled assuming a total Meissner effect. Axial force of a few hundred Newtons and stiffness of around 100 N/mm can be achieved. Consequences of real superconducting material behavior are discussed.
