Lm. Pastrana et al., A FED-BATCH CULTURE MODEL FOR IMPROVED PRODUCTION OF GIBBERELLIC-ACIDFROM A WASTE MEDIUM, Biotechnology letters, 17(3), 1995, pp. 263-268
The kinetics of the production of gibberellic acid (GA3) in convention
al batch culture was compared with that obtained in fed-batch cultures
at three different feeding regimes with media containing protein N, o
ne of which was calculated to maintain a constant biomass, and two oth
ers able to promote linear growth. It was found that the production of
GA3 improves substantially in the latter two cases, and that the gene
ral model applicable to the formation of a secondary metabolite correc
tly predicts the results if one dispenses with the assumption of avoid
ing the increase in the biomass during the production phase.
