H. Yoshikane et al., DUODENAL CARCINOID-TUMOR - ENDOSONOGRAPHIC IMAGING AND ENDOSCOPIC RESECTION, The American journal of gastroenterology, 90(4), 1995, pp. 642-644
A 75-yr-old Japanese woman was shown by endoscopy to have a sessile po
lyp in the duodenal bulb. Endoscopic biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of
carcinoid tumor, The endoscopic ultrasound probe showed a 6-mm hypoec
hoic tumor that was confined to the submucosal layer; the underlying m
uscularis propria layer was intact. On the basis of these findings, en
doscopic resection was chosen, and the tumor was completely resected b
y the strip biopsy technique with prior hypertonic saline and epinephr
ine injection; there were no complications.
