The present study was conducted on 25 451 births in the same teaching
hospital maternity, from 1980 to 1990. During this period, a blood cul
ture was done for every fever observed to a pregnant woman with a dema
nd for listeriosis. The study is on 34 cases of perinatal listeriosis
with a pic from 1983 to 1987, at the same time than similar pics in ot
her european countries. The clinical signs, the placental lesions, the
frequency and severity of fetal and neonatal diseases are discribed b
y gestation duration discribed by clinical form, recognized to the mot
her and neonate, to the child or to the mother only. In 21 cases on 34
, the disease was recognized and treated to the mother with no fetal a
nd neonatal disease, without preterm delivery.
