Abstract
A small prototype of the undulator requested for the SLAG X-ray FEL pr oject was designed and manufactured. Experimental results on the magne tic fields obtained with the five period model show that the hybrid sc heme using side magnet arrays is very promising. It can provide the sp ecified magnetic field profiles in a small area near the undulator axi s, focusing fields are easily adjustable, and the construction is comp act.
