We propose to operate an isochronous mm-wave FEL at the Duke storage r
ing. Resonant FEL conditions for mm-waves will be provided by the off-
axis interaction with an electromagnetic wave. The intracavity Tower o
f the mm-wave FEL could be used to pump a hard X-ray inverse Compton s
ource with very high brightness. This is discussed in a separate contr
ibution to these proceedings. Simulation results of mm-wave FEL operat
ion on the Duke storage ring are discussed. The expected performance o
f a mm-wave FEL is presented.
