Abstract
Radio direction findings is of great significance especially in the fi eld of electronic reconnaissance. There exist many radio direction fin ding algorithms, but most of them fail in interference fields caused b y existence of more than one radiation source or by multipath transmis sion. High resolution spectral estimation techniques are useful to res olve interference fields with more than one incoming wave. In this pap er one of these algorithms, the MUSIC (MUltiple SIgnal Classification) algorithm, is described. A measurement system, the nine channel recei ver for the HF- and VHF-band, which allows hardware independent the im plementation of various direction finding algorithms, is presented. Fu rthermore, in simulations and measurements, the MUSIC algorithm is com pared with conventional beamforming techniques. The results show the s uperiority of the MUSIC algorithm.
