We studied the association of glomerular diseases with chronic lymphop
roliferative disorders and Hodgkin's disease reviewing the literature-
and comparing our personal experience. Lymphocytic leukemias are mainl
y associated with membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, whereas gl
omerular lesions observed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma are more heterog
eneous. The predominant renal manifestations associated with Hodgkin's
disease are amyloidosis and minimal change disease. Underlying pathop
hysiology involving specific humoral factors produced by these hematol
ogic malignancies is discussed in detail. Finally, we stress the clini
cal and therapeutic interest in recognizing such an association, becau
se the nephropathy may reveal the hemopathy or accompany a relapse, an
d the malignancy treatment is also frequently effective toward the nep
hropathy.
