Abstract
Correlation could be observed between the structure of the inhibitor m olecule and inhibition efficiency, A newly introduced phosphono group was found to increase the anticorrosion activity. The differences in t he complex forming properties of phosphonic and carboxylic acids are d ue to the differences in basicity, charge, electron-donating effect an d size of phosphono and carboxyl groups, Correlation was found between the complex forming behaviour and inhibiting efficiency of organic co mpounds, Efficiency results obtained for the same inhibitors by two di fferent methods showed good correlation without the use of metal ions.
