Abstract
Comparatively low levels of hepatic EROD activities were observed in f eral perch caught in Lake Jarnsjon, heavily contaminated with polychlo rinated biphenyls (PCBs) when compared to reference sites. On the othe r hand rainbow trout, caged in Lake Jarnsjon, exhibited elevated EROD activities, P450 1A1 protein and CYP1A1 mRNA levels. The feral perch f rom the PCB area were non-responsive towards model P450 IA system indu cers. These results suggest a possible pollutant-induced suppression o r inactivation of the P450 IA system in feral perch in Lake Jarnsjon.
