Abstract
The consecutive stereoselective introduction of carbon nucleophiles at the 4- and 1-positions of a suitable pseudoglycal is shown to be an e fficient route to the chiral 1,4-disubstituted tetrahydropyran (2), an early zincophorin synthon.
