Abstract
Homolytic acetylation of 3-ethoxycarbonyl-beta-carboline and norharman e occurs selectively at 1-position. Better yields are obtained by gene ration of the acetyl radical from acetaldehyde than by oxidative decar boxylation of pyruvic acid.
