Magnesium hexaaquabromate (Mg(H2O)(6)(BrO3)(2)) was obtained and analy
sed by means of X-ray powder diffraction, infrared (IR) spectroscopy,
and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique. A thermal analysis of
the compound was also carried out. In the temperature range 293-77 K t
here was no structural phase transition detected. The space group of t
he compound was found to be Pa(3) over bar and the structure of the ma
gnesium hexaaquabromate was refined using the Rietveld method.
