A novel immobilization method for construction of a tyrosinase-based b
iosensor applied in pure organic phase is described. This method gives
the enzyme a hydrated shell which allows the enzyme to maintain its b
iocatalytic activity in a pure organic solvent The enzyme electrode wa
s used to determine several phenols and o-diphenols in pure chloroform
and chlorobenzene. The biosensor can be stored in dry state for more
than 3 months without any loss of the activity. The kinetic parameters
have also been calculated and are presented herein.
