THE DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A HOLLAND-TYPE PORTUGUESE VOCATIONAL-INTEREST INVENTORY

This study dealt with the development of a vocational interest invento ry based on Holland types to assist in counseling Portuguese high scho ol and college students. A preliminary form of a relatively reliable a nd valid inventory-the 174-item Inventario de Interesses Vocacionais ( IIV)-was constructed for use in vocational counseling in Portugal. The study also examined the construct validity of Holland's hexagonal mod el of vocational interest structure in Portugal. Results indicated tha t Holland's interest dimensions have considerable validity in a Portug uese student population. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
