Abstract
We calculate the chiral log corrections to the Goldberger-Treiman rela tion within the framework of baryon chiral perturbation theory. It is found that the parameter of deviation from the chiral limit, Delta(pi) , is 16%, which is much larger than the experimental value 6%. The cau se for this discrepancy is dominantly due to the sizeable contribution s from the wave function renormalization of the nucleon and the correc tion of the nucleon mass. A complete renormalization program incorpora ting the O(p(2)) and O (p(3)) terms is needed to reconcile the discrep ancy.
