Ml. Grant et Da. Saville, ELECTROSTATIC INTERACTIONS BETWEEN A NONUNIFORMLY CHARGED SPHERE AND A CHARGED SURFACE, Journal of colloid and interface science, 171(1), 1995, pp. 35-45
The behavior of colloidal systems is often controlled by electrostatic
interactions. Published studies deal mostly with uniformly charged pa
rticles; nonuniformly charged objects require a more complicated treat
ment, Here, we describe a boundary element method developed to study t
he interaction between a sphere with a nonuniform surface charge and a
charged plate. By means of a simple example, we show that charge hete
rogeneity has a dramatic effect on the interaction energy, (C) 1995 Ac
