Abstract
Homopolymerization of 2-vinyloxyethyl isothiocyanate yields polymers o f either cross-linked or linear structure, depending on conditions of the process. Linear soluble homopolymer of d-vinyloxyethyl isothiocyan ate has a high antiseptic activity, while partially cross-linked insol uble homopolymer of 2-vinyloxyethyl isothiocyanate is a selective merc ury sorbent from 1-7 M solutions of sulfuric and nitric acids, the sor ption capacities from these solutions being 240 and 230 mg . g(-1), re spectively.
