INVESTIGATIONS ON THE EFFECT OF A COMBINE D TREATMENT AND VACCINATIONPROGRAM IN PIG HERDS WITH ATROPHIC RHINITIS

The efficacy of a combined treatment and vaccination programme was ass essed in a field trial involving five breeder/fattener herds with atro phic rhinitis. With the programme the prevalence of clinical signs was markedly reduced however the prevalence of Pasteurella multocida was only reduced in one herd. The prevalence and severity of clinical sign s were influenced by management factors such as ventilation rates, the type of housing, cleanliness of the buildings and methods of disinfec tion.
