The generation of time-averaged flows in non-uniform fluid due to high
frequency vibrations of the container or oscillations of solid bodies
immersed in a liquid is considered. The general equations for the tim
e-averaged and pulsating components of hydrodynamical fields are obtai
ned for a situation when the non-uniformity of density is caused by no
n-uniform healing. It has been shown that in the general case thermovi
brational effect is linear with respect to the characteristic temperat
ure difference, whereas in some particular situations, for instance wh
en the rigid-wailed container, completely filled with the fluid, does
not change its orientation over the vibrational period, the thermovibr
ational effect is quadratic. As an example the flow between two solid
spheres is analyzed for a situation where the inner sphere vibrates al
ong a fixed direction and is kept at a temperature different from that
of the outer sphere.
