Abstract
An extension of the concept of error iii the constitutive relation is proposed in the case of Mindlin plate finite element computations. In a first stage, loads and momentum densities in equilibrium are calcula ted on each element edge as the sum of densities derived from the fini te element solution and densities with a resultant equal to zero on ea ch edge. Then, the statically admissible stress resultants are determi ned within each element. Both of the two stages allow an optimization of tile statically admissible fields in order to obtain a more accurat e error.
