The path integral quantization for higher derivative Chern-Simons theo
ries in (2+1) dimensions coupled to fermions is treated. The diagramma
tic and the Feynman rules are constructed and the regularization and r
enormalization of this higher derivative model are analyzed in the Fra
mework of the perturbation theory. Finally, the unitarity problem rela
ted to the possible appearance of ghost states with negative norm is a
lso discussed.
