N. Tonomura et al., NEGATIVE REGULATION OF IMMEDIATE-EARLY GENE-EXPRESSION OF PSEUDORABIES VIRUS BY INTERFERON-ALPHA, Veterinary microbiology, 53(3-4), 1996, pp. 271-281
Pseudorabies virus (PrV) replication in Vero cells was suppressed by t
reatment with human natural interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha). Messenger RN
A transcribed from the PrV immediate-early (IE) gene was reduced in th
e IFN-alpha-treated cells, Transient expression assays showed that tra
nscription from the PrV IE promoter was selectively inhibited in the I
FN-alpha-treated cells. Analysis of deletion mutants of the PrV LE pro
moter sequence suggested that at least one element between the transcr
iption initiation site (+1) and -90 in the PrV IE promoter was concern
ed with the negative regulation.
