The structure parameters of La1.93Bi0.07CuO4+delta (delta = 0.044, T-c
= 22 K), which was made superconducting by treatment with O-2 at 50 M
Pa and 600 degrees C, were refined by time-of-flight neutron powder di
ffraction. It remained a single phase both at room temperature and at
11 K. Excess oxygen atoms are located at interstitial positions betwee
n a couple of (La,Bi)O sheets. Localization of the interstitial oxygen
defects by Bi3+ ions suppresses phase separation in this solid soluti
on.
