Abstract
The series of compounds ( BI-III) containing a NLO chromophore, bearin g a barbituric acid unit as molecular receptor, and their complementar y substrate - melamine derivatives (MI-II), have been synthesized. BI- III have been found to display efficient optical second harmonic gener ation.
