J. Cirujeda et al., THE IMPORTANCE OF HYDROGEN-BONDS IN THE CRYSTAL PACKING OF POLYHYDROXYLATED ALPHA-PHENYL NITRONYL NITROXIDES, Synthetic metals, 71(1-3), 1995, pp. 1799-1800
We report the main geometric characteristics of strong hydrogen bonds
found between the OH and the NO groups in a series of single crystals
of mono and dihydroxylated alpha-phenyl nitronyl nitroxides. The stron
g directionality observed for such hydrogen bonds in this family of ra
dicals permits the formation of well defined supramolecular structures
and consequently this strategy can be a useful tool for the obtainmen
t of designed intermolecular magnetic interactions.
