Abstract
A new light emitting polymer with pendant anthracene based units attac hed to a polystyrene backbone has been obtained, namely poly(styrene-c o-anthracenyl-9-methoxystyrene). It was synthesized through a Williams on condensation of poly(styrene-co-acetoxystyrene) and 9-chloromethyla nthracene. The copolymer contained one chromophore for each two styren e units, and showed an emission spectral maximum entered at 590 nm.
