Cellulose acetate hollow fibers can be spun by a 3C-shaped spinneret,
dry-jet wet technique and are suitable to operate at ultra-low pressur
e. The hollow fiber exhibits a higher flux of 4-6.5 gfd and salt rejec
tion of 60-85% for tap water at 8 kg/cm(2). Cellulose acetate hollow f
iber rejection against a variety of solutes, such as NaCl, CaCl2, MgSO
4, Na2SO4, glucose, brulin and PVP 6000 were investigated. Cellulose a
cetate hollow fiber compaction and long term operation were tested. Th
e result has shown that cellulose acetate hollow fibers spun by this m
ethod have achieved basically our desired target. They should find wid
e applications in the industrial process, such as ultrapure water prod
uction, food process, pharmaceutical manufacturing, brackish water des
alting, and water softening.
