Abstract
In this paper we construct the difference approximation of the Helmhol tz operator on a square grid and we analyze asymptotic properties of t he difference operator fundamental solutions. We show that for a Somme rfeld-type asymptotic condition there exists a fundamental solution th at is determined in a unique way.
