We describe two cases associated with the ''buried bumper syndrome'' (
1,2). In each, gastric emptying was markedly prolonged after the secon
d percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) and was followed by freque
nt episodes of gastroesophageal reflux and aspiration pneumonia. These
cases suggest that stomal damage and PEG replacement may cause impair
ed gastric emptying.
