A. Archimandritis et al., SYMPTOMATIC PEPTIC-ULCER (PU) - IS THERE ANY SEASONAL-VARIATION - AN ENDOSCOPIC RETROSPECTIVE STUDY, Journal of clinical gastroenterology, 20(3), 1995, pp. 254-257
Svanes and coworkers (1) suggest that more perforations of peptic ulce
r (PU) occur in early summer and early winter. This pattern is mainly
caused by the high proportion of duodenal and pyloric ulcers taken tog
ether, On the contrary, no clear seasonal variation of gastric and pre
pyloric ulcers was documented. We present our findings on seasonal var
iation of symptomatic peptic ulcers observed during an 8-year period i
n our endoscopy unit.
