TAXONOMY AND PHYLOGENY OF THE GENUS CYDNUS F 1803 (HEMIPTERA, HETEROPTERA, CYDNIDAE)

The paper presents results of the studies on the taxonomy and phylogen y of the genus Cydnus F. Basing on the methods of cladistics the genus is redefined and proven to consist of three monophyletic groups of sp ecies (aterrimus-group, borneensis-group and horvathii-group). The anc estral area for the genus is also estimated. Cydnopeltus Signoret, 188 2 and Cydnus sg. Orientocydnus Lis, 1994 are proposed to synonymize wi th Cydnus Fabricius, 1803, and Cydnus infernalis Kiritshenko, 1966 and Cydnus sobrius de la Fuente, 1971 with Cydnus aterrimus (Forster, 177 1).
