L. Dejanvry et al., PROJECT EVALUATION FOR SUSTAINABLE RURAL-DEVELOPMENT - PLAN SIERRA INTHE DOMINICAN-REPUBLIC, Journal of environmental economics and management, 28(2), 1995, pp. 135-154
A methodology of project appraisal combining the criteria of economic
feasibility, acceptability, and sustainability is developed and applie
d to Plan Sierra, a watershed development project in the Dominican Rep
ublic. Feasibility is measured by the change in sustainable income due
to the project; acceptability by the change in average annual income
for the present generation; and sustainability by the difference betwe
en changes in sustainable and changes in average annual incomes. These
three criteria may be achieved by schemes of tax and subsidy between
project and non-project households and between present and future gene
rations. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
