Cascades of crystallizers are applied in many industrial processes. Th
e optimization of the filterability of crystals produced in such a cas
cade is dealt with, since a good filterability is often one of the mai
n product specifications. An integral model description of the crystal
lization process is developed that allows for the prediction of the cr
ystal size distribution and the filterability in each stage of the cas
cade, and experiments are performed to support this model. The integra
l model can be used as a predictive tool in future filterability optim
ization studies.
