J. Conigliaro et al., HOUSESTAFF TEAM RESEARCH IN THE AMBULATORY SETTING - IT CAN BE DONE, Journal of general internal medicine, 10(4), 1995, pp. 219-222
Training in research has been recognized as an important component of
internal medicine training. To provide a research experience for their
residents, the authors established a team research project designed a
nd implemented by postgraduate year-2 and -3 internal medicine trainee
s with guidance from general medicine faculty. A successful research p
roject was conducted by trainees, which resulted in an award-winning p
oster presentation at a scientific meeting and publication in a peer-r
eviewed journal. The process of conducting a resident faculty team res
earch project in the ambulatory care setting is described in this repo
rt. The authors encourage other internal medicine programs to consider
resident team research efforts to expose a large number of trainees t
o a research experience.
