Abstract
The sucrose-containing selective medium thiosulfate-citrate bile salt- sucrose agar missed a sucrose nonfermenting and four sucrose late-ferm enting variant strains of Vibrio cholerae O139 Bengal from diarrheal s tools. These strains were, however, correctly identified as V. cholera e O139 on a sucrose-deficient selective medium, taurocholate-tellurite -gelatin agar.
