Abstract
The retention of cyanoalkanes and cyano-alkylbenzenes during SFC was i nvestigated on alkyl and cyanoalkyl-bonded stationary phases and compa red to alkane retention. The particular behaviour of short chain homol ogues was attributed to a silanophilic interaction with surface-OH gro ups on the silica and inhibition of specific interactions between solu tes and C10CN bonded groups.
