We prepose a method based on capillary gas-chromarography/electron-ion
isation mass spectrometry of pentatrifluoroacetyl TFA-glucopyranose. I
on of nominal mass 319 and 321 represent natural and enriched (two deu
terium atoms) fragments. This method gives a good linearity (r = 0.996
), reproductibility (RSD = 6.7%) and repeatability (RSD = 7%) for stan
dards enriched with [6-6 H-2(2)] D-glucose (0 to 4 atom percent excess
). This method was used for assay in healthy subjects receiving a prim
ed infusion of [6-6 H-2(2)] glucose (5 mg kg(-1)) then a continous inf
usion of [6-6 H-2(2)] glucose (3 mg kg(-1) h(-1)).
