Cationic, monochelated is[(1,3-dioxane-2-ylmethyl)diphenylphosphine-P;
O', P'](pentamethyicyclopentadienyl)rutherium (2) was obtained by chlo
ride abstraction from CpRuCl(P similar to O)(2) (1) with NaBPh(4). P-
31 CP MAS NMR investigations together with an X-ray crystal structure
analysis of 2 were carried out to determine the diastereomeric composi
tion of the complex in the solid state. These results are compared wit
h the spectroscopic data of 2 in solution. 2 crystallizes in the monoc
linic space group P2(1)/c with Z = 4. The cell dimensions are: a = 138
7(2), b = 2235(2), c = 1836(2) pm, beta = 100.8(1)degrees, R(1) = 0.09
3 and wR(2) = 0.229.
