Three patients underwent a cerebral biopsy Soi clinical and radiologic
al features suggesting a brain tumor. In all cases, the lesion contain
ed large pleomorphic all astrocytes that might have led to the erroneo
us diagnosis of grade II astrocytoma. However, the presence of foamy m
acrophages, demyelination and the relative preservation of axons led t
o the definitive diagnosis of multiple sclerosis which was confirmed o
y the subsequent clinical course.
