Abstract
A simple and rapid method for the determination of vanadium has been w orked out. In presence of hydrazine sulphate, vanadium forms a green c oloured complex with thiocyanate in HCl solution, whose absorbance was measured at lambda(max) 675 nm, after extraction into ethyl methyl ke tone. The method is free from the interference of several ions of anal ytical importance and can analyse satisfactorily samples df varying co mplexity. Vanadium and thiocyanate were present in the ratio of 1:2 in the extracted species.
