Ap. Savtchenko et al., RESULTS OF 6 MONTHS FOLLOW-UP OF PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC-HEART-DISEASEAFTER TRANSLUMINAL BALLOON CORONARY ANGIOPLASTY, Kardiologia, 34(9-10), 1994, pp. 12-17
Clinical efficacy of transluminal balloon coronary angioplasty was eva
luated In 71 patients with Ischemic heart disease. By the end of 6 mon
ths of follow up 29 patients (41%) had no symptoms of ischemic heart d
isease, in 22 patients (31%) clinical class of angina was improved and
In 4 (6%) there were no changes compared to preangioplasty period. Cl
inical state of 16 (22%) patients deteriorated 1 had myocardial infarc
tion, 5(7%) underwent coronary artery bypass surgery, and In 10 (14%)
repeat transluminal balloon coronary angioplasty was performed because
of restenosis. Results of repetitive exercise tests (veloergometry) s
howed that increase In tolerance to exercise achieved by angioplasty p
ersisted throughout the period of follow-up. More pronounced favorable
clinical effect was observed in patients without angiographic signs o
f restenosis.
