Regional Earth's topography within the equatorial belt 40 degrees widt
h is analyzed from the point of view of estimation of its fractal prop
erties. Application of the method of variances approved the previously
obtained value of fractal dimension of global topography to be equal
to 1.38. The same data were processed with the help of the dispersion
counter-scaling method. Significant longitudinal variability (from 1.3
1 to 1.68) was found for the internal fractal dimension, while the ext
ernal one remains almost constant.
